If people ever look down upon you for crying for fictional characters, you should give them a gentle, pitying look and feel bad for them. If they’ve never cried for a fictional character, then they’ve never loved one (and what a joy that is). If they’ve never cried at a book, a movie, a piece of music, then they’ve missed one of the great pleasures life has to offer. Just because fiction does not contain things that are real doesn’t mean it doesn’t contain truth, and we find it through the alchemy of our tears.

I went to see HTTYD2 (again) today, and while trying to recover from you know which scene, this little boy in the row in front of me buried his head in his mother’s lap and started crying because Hiccup lost Toothless. It was seriously the cutest thing ever.

"I know what you’re going to say, Stoick. How could I’ve done this? Stay away all these years and why didn’t come back to you? To our son? Well, what sign did I have that you could change, Stoick? That anyone could?! I pleaded so many times to stop the fighting and to find another answer, but did any of you listen?! I know that I left you to raise Hiccup alone, but I thought he’d be better off without me. And I was wrong. I see that now! Oh, stop being so stoic, Stoick! Go on! Shout! Scream! Say something!”
"You’re as beautiful as the day I lost you”

This scene though!!!!!

My favorite part of this scene was the score!! The way it slows down once he sees her and all of the string instruments are playing and then the choir comes in while he’s walking up to her and she’s babbling on and then all of it just stops when he says “You’re as beautiful as the day I lost you” And you can just feel the emotion and love and ugh John Powell is a genius.
